The Union Church of Pocantico Hills is a charming, stone church located in Pocantico Hills, New York. Commissioned by the Rockefeller family for the local community, the church is best known its extraordinary stained-glass windows by modern masters Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall.
The church features Matisse’s final artwork—a rose window above the altar—as well as nine windows by Chagall that depict biblical scenes in his signature style. These works were commissioned by the Rockefeller family as memorials to loved ones and make the Union Church a hidden gem of 20th-century sacred art.
Tours of the church and the windows are available on select dates from May-December. It has has an active congregation.
